This is one of those books you just want to hug!

Mimi, oh Mimi, she is so endearing, with a big heart. Maybe a bit naive, but always giving so much of herself to everyone.

Mimi is engaged to Ren, a divorced father with girls, but when his ex-wife has an accident and needs care, Ren moves back into their former home.

Meanwhile, Mimi, who lost her job because of Ren, moves into an apartment hoping to be closer to Ren, who seems to be doing his best to keep Mimi separate from his family.

The building Mimi now lives in also houses a co-op daycare, and Mimi canโ€™t help but get herself involved and intertwined in the lives of kids and their parents, especially one single dad named Jamie and his little girl, Alice.

As much as Mimi gets walked over and poorly treatedโ€”coming in second to the ex-wife and a dead wifeโ€”she was always so generous and kind. She took the high road, even helping those many would consider the competition, which paid off because kindness does win. I loved all the different characters, from the pre-schoolers to Renโ€™s ex-wife to Jamie and Mimi; they were written so well.

Youโ€™ll find moments of silliness, tenderness, and even heartbreak, but it all points to joy, and that joy is what you choose to make itโ€”and finding love when you least expect it.

Josie Campbell has spent her entire adult life distancing herself from her childhood in the small Southern town of Happy Harbor. Growing up with an alcoholic mother who was either absent or scandalizing the town with her antics, all Josie ever wanted was to escape to somewhere no one knew her as Diane’s daughter. Now, she finally has it all–a great job, a condo in one of Atlanta’s most desirable areas, a successful fiancรฉ, and her teenage daughter, Kendra, enrolled at a top-rated school. But when that life falls apart, and her beloved nana dies, Josie is forced to return to the one place she never wanted to visit again.

Soon, she finds herself stepping into Nana’s shoes in Happy running her quaint restaurant, living in their family’s historic home, and bumping into Walker Jackson–the disturbingly handsome man who lives in the guest house–on a near daily basis.  The place seems to be good for Kendra, who begs to stay, and Josie is inclined to at least make an attempt at a new life in this old town. That is, until her mother turns up. Diane insists she’s truly sober now and wants just one more chance. Nana’s last wish was for the two of them to reconcile, and she’s even arranged things to help make that happen.

But with a lifetime of painful experiences that have taught her not to trust this woman, can Josie truly bring herself to forgive Diane?

Cole Kimball and Laila Olivet have been best friends their entire lives. Cole is the only person (apart from blood relatives) whoโ€™s seen Laila in her oversized, pink, plastic, Sophia Loren glasses. Laila is always the first person to taste test any new dish Cole creates in his familyโ€™s restaurant. Most importantly, Cole and Laila are always talking. About everything.

When Cole discovers a betrayal from his recently deceased grandfather that shatters his world, staying in Adelaide Springs, Colorado, is suddenly unfathomable. But Laila loves her life in their small mountain town and canโ€™t imagine ever living anywhere else.

Still, when Cole toys with moving across the country to New York City, she decides to support her best friendโ€“even as she secretly hopes she can convince him to stay home. And not just for his killer chocolate chip pancakes. Because she loves him. As a friend. Just as a friend. Right?

They make a deal: Laila wonโ€™t beg him to stay, and Cole wonโ€™t try to convince her to come with him. They have one week in New York before their lives change forever, and all they have to do is enjoy their time together and pretend none of this is happening. But itโ€™s tough to ignore the very inconvenient feelings blooming out of nowhere. In both of them. And these potentially friendship-destroying feelings, once out in the open, have absolutely no take-backs.

๐Ÿฉท I canโ€™t wait to read this one. It sounds so good.

Thank you @macmillan.audio for the gifted audiobook.

Molly is a rom-com writer, yet she has commitment issues and anxiety due to an absentee parent and failed relationships. She tends to bail on people before they can reject her.

When her friends drag her to their fifteenth high school reunion, she runs into Seth, her high school boyfriendโ€”the one she dumped: Seth, the guy of grand gestures and a big heart. But after a few too many drinks, Molly and Seth find themselves reminiscing about high school in more ways than one.

The two debate whether true love exists. To further this notion, they bet on the people in their high school friend group: Name the fate of five couples – who will be together at the next reunion (including us).

Told in dual POV, it was great to see how Molly and Seth felt about each other, even though they wouldnโ€™t tell each other. They both had separate lives in separate cities, but they kept crossing paths. This romance went through the drudgery of life: work got in the way, Covid shut things down, and personal fears pushed them apart.

This is a funny and super sexy second-chance romance that had me rooting for Seth and Molly the whole time. Some deep-seated issues get fleshed out as Molly and Seth work out their love story.

๐ŸŽง I loved having the audiobook to pair my reading with because the dual narration was perfect.

Matt and Julia have never met; in fact, they are 1,000 miles apart. But they are both losing their grandmothers. Life is about to set them on a collision course, crashing their worlds together in a unique, heartwarming, and slightly mystical way.

I enjoyed this mix of family drama, romance, and magical realism (or was it the drugs?)๐Ÿ˜œ. The characters are complex and are dealing with a lot, from alcohol and drug use to caring for loved ones with dementia. Their lives are woven together in a most unusual way, full of regrets, dreams, and love.

The added journal entries from Juliaโ€™s grandmother gave the story another dimension and illuminated many questions and secrets. Just donโ€™t get confused because there is another character named Matt in her writings.

I loved having both the audiobook and the physical copy. It was a great listening experience, as the story has a dreamlike and transitory feel.

Harry Kincaid is a former naval captain who all but had his career ruined by a woman. When the Navy has its sights on him for a new commission, his sister announces she is leaving for an expedition. Thus, Harry must watch her children. He has no time to dedicate to them, so he calls upon Miss Prenticeโ€™s School for Young Ladies to hire a governess – quickly.

Georgie Rowe has never officially had a job as a governess, but she wants the children to experience life, not just study, but have some fun, things she was not afforded growing up.

Although this is a slow-burn romance, the journey was so much fun. I enjoyed how Harry and Georgie disagree on most things, but itโ€™s only because they donโ€™t know each other. They both feel a sense of duty, allowing for many hilarious moments and conversations. It sets up a bit of an enemies-to-lovers romance.

The kids (and the dog) are a big part of the story. And where sometimes that can be a bit awkward or even annoying, here it worked well for me. In fact, they stole many of the scenes. Georgie was excellent with them, and as events played out, it was quite heartwarming to see how sweet of an Uncle Harry was.

Sylvie, a widow, is getting married again, which is bringing the Peacock sisters back together. Secrets and very different lives have kept the three of them apart.

I enjoyed these sisters and the drama in their lives. It was nice that we got each of their POVs. Most of the story was funny and light, but some of the secrets carried a bit of heaviness and heartbreak. Add a narcissistic mother, and you have quite the mash-up!

Thank you @avonbooks and @juliaquinnauthor for the gifted copy.

If youโ€™ve been watching Bridgerton on Netflix (season 3 just started) or are a lover of Regency romance, you need to have this book in your hands!

I donโ€™t have Netflix ๐Ÿฅน but thanks to Avon Books, I can read about Colin and Penelopeโ€™s amazing love story.

๐€๐›๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐จ๐จ๐ค:

Everyone knows that Colin Bridgerton is the most charming man in London. Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend’s brother for…well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret…and fears she doesn’t know him at all.

Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of everyone’s preoccupation with the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can’t seem to publish an edition without mentioning him in the first paragraph. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same – especially Penelope Featherington! The girl haunting his dreams. But when he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide…is she his biggest threat – or his promise of a happy ending?

Two former debate team champions who almost fell in love years ago are now stuck together on one wild wedding weekend. When bridesmaid Emma first sees groomsman Finn, she’s reminded of all the mistakes she almost made with himโ€”the date, the party, the kiss, that one night on the rooftop in New York. Each ended in heartbreak, and she would have been happy never to see Finn again.

But when the bride runs away, and both Emma and Finn are tasked with bringing her home in time to walk down the aisle, they end up on a whirlwind road trip down memory lane… and might just fall in love along the way.

Perfect for fans of Emily Henry, MISTAKES WE NEVER MADE reminds us itโ€™s never too late to risk falling in love, because being true to your heart is never a mistake.

Take a look at the awesome swag that came with the book – I really am ready for summer. โ˜€๏ธ
