Christine Nolfi weaves an emotional and powerful story in 𝐀 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞. From the first chapters, I became invested in these characters.

Nova is a woman who has had wounds since childhood. Being forever grateful for her adoptive parents, Nova has become a foster parent, usually taking in teenagers for the short term.

When a request comes in for 9-year-old Henry and his six-year-old sister, Bella, Nova agrees to take them in. Nova must earn their trust  –  and work around their abusive father.

The story is heartbreaking as it sheds light on abusive, broken families and the realities of the foster system. Yet it is uplifting as Nova pours out her heart to these children, showing them what an honest, loving family is. There is also a mystery element, as secrets from Nova’s past are brought to light.
