Dear Reader,

My name is Luke Edgewood, and there are few things in life that I require. Mainly black coffee. And flannel. And lots of solitude. And my dogs, Chewy and Indie. What I don’t need is romance, so I have no plans to change my thirty-year-old bachelor status anytime soon.

But my youngest sister thinks that by accepting a short-term construction job in the small European country of Skymar, I’m going to follow along in her footsteps and discover my own romantic adventure. Nope. Bah humbug. The End. This time, her rom-com-movie senses are totally wrong.

Or maybe not. Because I’ve met a Grace Kelly look-alike who is annoying . . . until she isn’t. But she is impossible. As in, nothing can happen between us because she is a literal princess. Basically, the whole situation has turned into an ooey gooey magical snow globe of romantic tropes complete with cute kids and an actual ball. Now, even my sentences are starting to sound like mush. Ugh. Send high levels of testosterone my way—I’m going to need it.

Do you have a neighbor that mows the lawn bright and early in the morning? Well, Hillary does, and she has no problem yelling at Liam about it. However, why does he have to look so good cutting grass shirtless? 

Hillary and Liam are both a bit grumpy and they love to snark at each other – probably because they are suppressing their attraction to one another. She can’t escape from him either because she needs Mr. Handyman to do some roof repairs.

Hillary is also feeling down for turning thirty and being single, so she jumps on the bandwagon of the popular dating app. She connects with a guy and starts chatting with Mr. Hottie. As the snark is heating up between her and Liam, and dating details are being planned between her and Mr. Hottie – Hillary sends the wrong text to the wrong man.

I loved that we could call this a grumps-to-lovers romance. And really, Liam was a great guy – a true gentleman. Secondary characters such as the moms and Hillary’s roommates added good depth as well. This is a clean romance, but it’s flirty and fun, with a southern flair.

The title really lived up to its name! This was such a fun romance.

Not only is Rebecca an unrestrained, sassy character whom I loved, but she’s the black sheep of her family, to which I can relate.

She works as a social media consultant but she has her heart set on a career in music. So she tries out to be on a reality singing show. 

Enter Ian Ledger; he just got told by his girlfriend they need to take a break; she feels Ian is too… uptight. Funny, that is exactly what Rebecca called him when they first met on the bus. And then again, when he shows up at Rebecca’s workplace, as Ian is the sensitivity trainer sent in by corporate. 

The banter between these two opposites is witty, and yep, you guessed it, f-u-n. But the tables turn when they both need something from each other.  From there, an extreme dislike for one another blossoms into a friendship and then something more. 

Rebecca and Ian are adorable together. With loveable and diverse side characters, some crazy antics, and even some lessons in disappointment, this one is “all that and a bag of chips.”

If you love Holiday books with a dose of family drama, you will love this one. All the festive trimmings are here: cookie decorating, a Christmas market and choir, and even a snowstorm – much of the wonder is seen through Natalie’s young nieces’ eyes. 

The blooming romance between Griffin and Natalie is tense but oh-so-sweet. I must warn you there is so much pain, loss, and heartache that it could be difficult for some. But seeing the power of forgiveness and love at work made the story incredibly heartwarming.

The romance is cute and very clean, but the themes of friendship, music, and believing in oneself are what make this book sing!

A sweet, clean second chance romance set on the beautiful coast of South Carolina. Definitely a slow-burn romance – maybe because Cate is so focused on her job. But I would have liked a little more attention on Cate and Knox together. 😉 

But I did appreciate the sense of community that existed on Gull Island and the lovely atmosphere had me longing for a seaside getaway.
