I adored 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐞, so I was thrilled that fun-loving GUP – gay uncle Patrick – was back. Patrick is traveling with his niece and nephew through Europe to get to their father’s wedding in Italy, which the kids are not too keen about. While Patrick is still his fabulous self, the kids are older, and thus, this is seasoned with a bit more sage advice than humor and laughs. But you can’t help but have a great time when you’re with GUP, even if his position of favorite is threatened by the LAUNT (lesbian aunt).

If you’re a romance reader who loves having your heart torn apart by a couple you wish would be together, this book is for you! Finn and Liv put me through the wringer, whew. Finn and Liv met six summers ago, and with each summer Finn returned to Liv, until one summer, everything changed. Although romantic and angsty, it still aptly explores the burden of grief and loss. This has a great cast of characters, and the shifting timeline allows the plot to unfold gently – just hold on to your heart. 

🎧I loved listening to the audiobooks for both these books – they were amazing!

This was a super sweet romance set in beautiful Ireland. I loved Jack and Raine, and their banter – sassy but very open and honest. What set this book apart for me was the representation of OCD and ADD, especially the way Jack’s OCD was handled. (And this is where the audiobook shines – with the excellent dual narration). Raine and Jack acknowledged their relationship couldn’t “fix” cure each other, but instead, they learned to understand one another. It’s as much a self-discovery journey as it is a heartwarming romance.

I’m starting to fall for the grumpy/sunshine trope, and 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐑𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 helped push me over the edge. 😂 

Aurora has come back home after a bad breakup with not just a man but also the music industry. Although Colorado is where she grew up, it holds a mixture of sweet and sad memories for her—especially because she lost her mom. 

Now she is hiding out, kind of, in Tobias Rhodes’ garage apartment. However, he doesn’t know it. His teenage son rented it to Aurora for some quick cash. Did I mention Tobias Rhodes is a hot, single dad? (Yep, he’s a DILF).

Although this is a very slow burn (it has over 500 pages to heat up), I enjoyed the characters and their journey. As much as I wanted grumpy Rhodes and perky Aurora to get together finally, I loved the sweet relationship Aurora was building with his son. 

There are discussions of grief and strained family relationships, but if you like the outdoors, you’ll love the many trail hikes and animal encounters included. 

Although it was a tad long, the characters were so enjoyable that I found it a fun read. I’ll be reading more from this author.

I think Katherine Center has cornered the market on “feel-good romcoms,” or at least, that’s what I’m going with. Her books are always full of bright, bold emotions and characters you’d probably want to be friends with in real life. 

What’s the saying? Don’t meet your heroes? Well, Emma Wheeler, a screenwriter, finally has the opportunity to meet and work with the award-winning screenwriter Charlie Yates. 

Emma must re-arrange her personal life, what little she has. Besides writing, she’s been the sole caretaker to her ill father, and now she needs her sister to step up – just for six weeks while she is in LA with Charlie. 

The story takes some funny turns as Emma and Charlie start working on a romantic comedy together. Charlie is a grumpy love skeptic. But Emma and Charlie have hurts, resentments, and fears that they harbor.

As sweet and humorous as this story of two writers trying to find their way is, it also has some heavy emotions. I wasn’t prepared for some of the intense family scenes, but it added so much depth to the story. And Charlie, oh Charlie, he really blossomed through all of this.

I read Neely Tubati Alexander’s debut 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐳𝐳 and I loved it. Her writing was casual, witty and yet, still romantic. That same writing shines in 𝐈𝐧 𝐚 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐒𝐨 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝. 

A dared kiss in a bar sets in motion this flirty strangers (really neighbors)-to-lovers romance. Sloane and her neighbor, Charlie, are both nursing broken hearts, but Sloane pours her heart into her work as a video game designer while Charlie is trying to make his ex jealous – with Sloane’s help. 

This all results in a trip to a beautiful Turks and Caicos resort with, yep, only one bed and a lot of rum punch, ocean breezes and starlit nights. As easy as Sloane and Charlie fall into spending time together – things are messy. Sloane needs to land her dream job, but there are huge roadblocks and red flags. Plus, this trip was originally for Charlie and his ex. Who wants to be a rebound, right? 

I loved how Charlie was the calm to Sloane’s whirlwind, yet Sloane was the strength for Charlie with his many fears. Add in an adorable rescue pup, Sloane’s emotional support hoodie, and the hilarious revenge game she designs, and this was a huggable romance.
