It was easy to become immersed in this unique story.ย
Elly, a portrait artist, leaves the States for Bonaire, an island in the Caribbean. Sheโs looking for a safe harbor from some personal disasters. She meets a kindred spirit in young, wild Rosie, an Australian with some baggage of her own.
First, the setting was amazing; island life, scuba diving, and the brewing storm were thrilling. Secondly, the world of high-stakes gambling added excitement, building suspense and tension.
Elly and Rosie, both wonderful characters, bring forth many tender and thought-provoking moments. I loved that Elly was a clairvoyant, but it was hard on her. And Rosie was seeking approval. You see their need for love and support, which they find in one another โ a great age-gap friendship.
All these elements are woven together seamlessly; I didn’t want to set this one down.
